Touting its revised Hours of Service (HOS) regulations as providing drivers more flexibility, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) released a final rule in May. It's designed to ease HOS rule compliance and takes effect Sept. 29, 2020.

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association announced its 2020 Crane & Rigging Safety Awards, recognizing a number of individuals and companies for exemplary safety operations. Fourteen SC&RA member companies received a Crane & Rigging Zero Accidents Award for having no recordable accidents.

Steve Freckmann, general manager of Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, a member of the ALL Family of Companies, has received the Pinnacle Award from the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA). The Pinnacle Award signals the end of Freckmann's three-year term on the association's board of directors, and also recognizes his more than decade and a half of involvement in leadership positions within the association.

Illinois-based Stevenson Crane Service Inc. (SCS) recently earned two international awards for crane and rigging safety based on performance numbers that greatly exceeded industry standards. The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), an international trade association with more than 1,400 members from 46 nations, recognized SCS with the 2020 Crane & Rigging Group Safety Award and the Zero Accidents Award.

Kris Koberg, CEO of DICA, was recently named to serve a three-year term on the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association's (SC&RA) Crane & Rigging Group Safety Education & Training Committee. Koberg's nomination was approved on April 30 during the association's web-based committee meeting.

More than 350 students from Clark County School District visited the Workforce Solutions area at ConExpo-Con/AGG on March 12 in Las Vegas. Lift & Move USA featured an interactive presentation about the role of crane, rigging, and specialized transportation operations in the construction of Allegiant Stadium, new home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders.

Lift & Move USA, featuring career paths for specialized transportation, crane, rigging and machinery moving operations, is coming to Texas this fall. "Lift & Move USA engages students and educators in learning about the skills needed and careers available in this highly technical field, serving construction, manufacturing, power gen, petro-chem, highway and related industries," said Tracy Bennett, director of Lift & Move USA.

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) recognized a number of individuals and companies with Crane & Rigging Safety Awards during the Association's 2019 Annual Conference, April 23 to 27, at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif.

Fifty-five companies were honored with Longevity Awards for their continuous membership in the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association at the 2019 SC&RA Annual Conference at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif. The honorees and their years of longevity include: 70 Years Hennes Services Inc.

Response from teachers following the Lift & Move USA event hosted by NessCampbell Crane + Rigging on Oct. 11 in Portland, Ore., was extremely positive. Lift & Move USA is an industry-led program to promote careers in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation sectors.

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association has announced its new format and keynote speakers from around the world for the 2019 Specialized Transportation Symposium, Feb. 19 to 22 at the Westin Galleria Houston in Houston, Texas. The annual event brings together 500 specialized transportation professionals and government permitting officials to discuss permitting harmonization, safety, regulations, compliance and some of the most pressing topics in specialized transportation.
