The first year Tony Campbell started Campbell's Pool & Spa, he installed 143 pools — now, 21 years later, his company is installing a maximum of 40 per year. But before assuming that means his business has declined, consider what has changed.

Rays of sunlight capture the sawdust that fills the air inside the mill at Cardin Forest Products — a busy place where even the sawdust ends up finding a purpose. An intricate system of carriers and conveyors leads each log through the process that transforms it into a perfect stack of planks, just like those towering 20 ft.

Stowers Machinery held its 2016 Machine Demo Day on April 29 at its East Knoxville location. More than 500 people attended the event. The demo day proved to be a great opportunity for Stowers to demonstrate how to use machine technology, equipment management technology, and job site technology.

Stowers Machinery Corporation, East Tennessee’s Caterpillar dealer, celebrated its 55th anniversary on Oct. 3. In 1960, Caterpillar offered only 30 models when three brothers from Bluefield, W. Va., Bud, Dick and Harry Stowers took over the eastern Tennessee Caterpillar territory from the original Caterpillar dealer, who had served the area since 1925.

Stowers Machinery Corporation, the Cat dealer of east Tennessee, hosted four customer appreciation events in the first half of 2015. Approximately 900 customers came to the events in East Knoxville, West Knoxville, Chattanooga and Kingsport.

Stowers Machinery Corporation announced that it has acquired the expanded Cat Mining equipment distribution and support business for its territories from Caterpillar Global Mining LLC. Stowers Machinery is the authorized Cat dealer in East Tennessee. “We are excited to expand our offerings to mining customers throughout the region, and to give them the superior product and quality support that is our standard,” said Wes Stowers, president and CEO of Stowers Machinery Corporation.

Stowers Rental & Supply, The Cat Rental Store, has announced that Matt Beller has joined the Knoxville-based company as sales manager for compact construction equipment. Beller will be responsible for the sales of Caterpillar’s line of skid steer loaders, mini-excavators, and compact wheel loaders as well the Challenger line of agricultural tractors.

AED members are stepping up and showing their support of AED Foundation programs. The AED Foundation 2003 annual giving campaign started in September and is already making progress with the generosity of many industry leaders. 2003 investors receive recognition at AED’s Annual Meeting and CONDEX show in San Diego and throughout the year.
