Available in 18, 24, and 40 in. (45.7, 61 and 101.6 cm) sizes, the PL-C is the only cold planer on the market with a built in conveyor.
GECON Attachments (Giberson Enterprises) has always scoured the globe for cutting edge attachments that are standouts in their areas of application. Being the “Application Specialists,” GECON knows when they have a winner and these two roadwork attachments are no exception.
The PL-C is a cold planer in 18, 24 and 40-in. (45.7, 61 and 101.6 cm) sizes, but all with a built in conveyor — the only of its kind in the U.S. market. According to Larry Giberson, owner GECON Attachments, the PL-C “cleans out the trench 90 to 95 percent,” leaving little clean up that is normally not labor friendly. It saves on brooms and sweepers getting beat to death, too,” he added.
“Once someone see the planer, knows and recognizes what it is, then sees the built in conveyor and realizes the [milled] material will get discharged out of the way, it changes everything.”
The PL-C is a top-of-the-line quality planer already, and the conveyor simply makes it the “better mouse trap,” according to the manufacturer.
The planers will run on any brand skid steer with high flow. To make the unit even better, Simex (the manufacturer) added a performer feature to the machine. This easily visible slider-bar measures the force, resistance and speed at whatever depth is being cut, and clearly shows the optimum level of performance at which the operator should be moving. It takes the guess work out of user judgment and not knowing if the milling process is going too slow.
The three models can mill up to 7 in. (17.7 cm) deep.
The other attachment that GECON has been selling quite well is the ST200 asphalt float. This is a basic low-flow piece that saves considerable manpower and really speeds up jobs, according to the manufacturer.
It's used to spread fresh asphalt after it's dropped for small patches or repairs. With a floating screed, or mole-board, it spreads the asphalt uniformly at an easily adjustable height above grade. The hydraulically adjustable wings in the front allows it to corral and push the skimmed off asphalt forward and continue to cover and spread the asphalt in a specifically defined area before compaction.
The side-shift feature is advantageous so the skid is not running over the asphalt or if there may not be a drivable path for the skid. The wings can be adjusted at different angles as well.
“A lot of the guys really like that side-shift functionality, especially being able to shift it over 5 feet or more,” said Giberson. “It's excellent for backfilling the dirt into trenches, too. The videos on our website make it really easy to see just how beneficial and simple the asphalt float is.”
“The simplicity is just awesome. We've sold next to no spare parts or wear parts on these things. There's just very little to go wrong. We sell them and then rarely hear back from our customers, except for the occasional exuberance about the ST. That's how trouble-free they are. Then we call them and find out their crews are fighting over their ST200.
“The affordability of these attachments makes it harder for me to keep them in stock,” added Eric “Woody” Woodward, of GECON Attachments. “The ROI on these is so rapid.
