The Utility and Transportation Contractors Association (UTCA) has completed plans for its 40th Anniversary Convention, which is scheduled for Sept. 22 to 25, 2005, at the recently expanded Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. With the hotel’s new Havana Tower and Quarter, one of the largest crowds ever is expected to attend the UTCA convention. Last year’s convention attracted 1,310 industry representatives.

UTCA’s convention luncheon will feature presentations by the two candidates for the Office of Governor of New Jersey. The state elects a new governor Nov. 8, 2005. The luncheon program also will include the presentation of the 2005 Larry Gardner Memorial Award, which goes annually to an associate member.

The Association’s Annual Exhibit, held in conjunction with the convention, will be available to convention attendees on the Friday and Saturday of the event. This exhibit includes approximately 120 firms, and it is sold out each year.

This year’s convention program also will include the presentation of UTCA’s Annual Construction Safety Awards and presentation of the 2005 William Feather Memorial Award that is given to a contractor member.

Bryan Townsend, nationally recognized motivator/humorist, will speak at the Saturday breakfast portion of the convention. During the convention, Franklyn Grosso, who recently completed 40 years of service as an officer and director of the association, will be inducted in the New Jersey Construction Industry Hall of Fame.
