Bill Lasky, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of JLG Industries Inc. was recently awarded a PAL Card (Powered Access Licensed-Registration) and Operator Training Certificate following the successful completion of a comprehensive aerial work platform operator training course held at JLG’s McConnellsburg training center.

The training program and PAL Card were developed by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) and their North American subsidiary, Aerial Work Platform Training (AWPT).

The IPAF training program is certified as conforming to the ISO 18878 standard for platform operator training.

JLG is an AWPT approved training center in North America and operates a number of IPAF training centers worldwide.

Lasky’s training was conducted by Thomas W. Hickey, an AWPT certified senior instructor and JLG’s training programs manager, safety.

Each year, more than 50,000 people are trained and receive a PAL Card from one of more than 230 IPAF/AWPT training centers worldwide. The PAL Card is recognized as proof of training in many countries and in the USA by organizations such as the Scaffold Industry Association.

Lasky, who also is deputy president of the IPAF Board, said, “AWPT training teaches operators how to safely operate their equipment while becoming more productive. These programs are an important part in the proper use of our equipment.”
