JM Wood Auction Co. Inc., recently held a successful two-day auction of construction equipment, trucks, agricultural and forestry machines at its headquarters facility in Montgomery, Ala., on Dec. 6 and 7. The company sold more than $15 million of equipment, of which more than $3 million was sold online. Highlights of the auction included a 2012 Komatsu D275 with a 200,000 lb. capacity winch that was sold to a pipeline contractor who will use it to winch side boom pipelaying through the mountains.

"This end of the year auction was very encouraging going into 2018." said Bryant Wood, president of JM Wood. "Strong onsite attendance and it appeared that the oil and gas contractors are gearing up for work. We had a good bit of participation from buyers in the oilfield country."

During the auction, Russ Wood of JM Wood announced that the company is in the process of constructing an indoor bidding area, which will be approximately 8,000 to 9,000 sq. ft. The two indoor bidding rooms will accommodate approximately 300 to 400 guests and will primarily be glassed in for easy viewing with big screens and indoor ring men overlooking the machine ramp and other auction rings. Additionally, a 50 acre parcel of land adjacent to the existing auction yard was purchased for an expanded machine area and is currently being cleared and graded by local major earthmoving contractor, W.S. Newell & Sons, and will be ready for the upcoming spring 2018 auction.
