Dennis Slagle, president and CEO, Volvo Construction Equipment North America, has announced the appointment of Walter “Walt” F. Joachim, vice president of LB Smith’s Northeast Region (Pennsylvania and New Jersey) since 2001, as president of LB Smith of that Volvo Construction Equipment dealership territory.

Joachim brings 35 years of experience in the construction equipment business to his new position. His industry experience includes 19 years as vice president of sales of a major construction equipment manufacturer dealer and 16 years in various positions with the former Volvo CE dealer, LB Smith Inc.

Joachim’s family has been engaged in the construction equipment industry in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for more than 55 years.

Other new management appointments at LB Smith, Northeast Region, include Ryan Sherwood, chief financial officer; Sean Collins, vice president, sales and marketing; and Jim Fehr, product support manager.

“The Northeast Region under Walt Joachim has become one of our leading unit sales and market share areas in the United States,” said Slagle. “We look forward to working closely with Walt and his new management team, all of whom have many years of experience in the market, to continue the growth of the company — and add to the strength of Volvo Construction Equipment in the industry.”

LB Smith has offices and service facilities in Lionville, PA, and Somerville and Deptford, NJ.
