Garden State Engine & Equipment (GSE&E) has delivered a Merlo R40.30 MCSS rotating telescopic forklift to Kafka Construction of Long Island City, N.Y.
“The Merlo R40.30 is essential for completing our jobs on time and in a safe and efficient manner,” said Christopher Vardaros, Kafka president. “The work that we perform is in a confined space. We have very little room to store materials and to operate without obstruction. That’s what makes the Merlo R40.30 perfect us. The Merlo attachments play a very important role in operation. Whether it’s the self dumping bucket being used in the demolition process, having men work in the man basket, or delivering pallets of bricks or mortar to the scaffold landing zone, the Merlo performs and lives up to all the expectations as we were informed.
“Our Merlo is equipped with air conditioning, an on-board computer and boom tip cameras that supply audio and video to the landing zone 96 ft. up. This important detail allows the operator to not only see where he is placing the material, but to also hear from the mason above. Another nice feature is using the multi-function joystick. It gives our operator the ability to rotate, telescope and lift the materials all with one motion,” Vardaros said.
Having an on board computer allows the machine to let the operator see on his dashboard screen the boom height, the radius and the weight on the boom tip. This machine not only saves time and money, but adds an important safety factor allowing the operator to feel comfortable with his pick, according to Vardaros.
“GSE&E sales and service department has provided me with a machine of excellent quality, an innovative design and a machine that does more than its competition, all for less money.
“I made the right decision to purchase a Merlo. For the amount of time we will be using the machine, owning verses renting is more advantageous for us.”
