Kemper Equipment hosted a special customer appreciation event at the Toyo Tire NHRA Championship Drag Racing event Aug. 14 to 17 at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa.
Throughout the weekend, more than 130 customers watched the races up close and personal in Kemper’s VIP skybox. Many were treated to custom golf-cart guided tours of the busy pit areas by Kemper’s owner Lyn Kemper and Engineering Manager Aaron Becker.
Attendees included employees of LaFarge, Edwards Sand & Stone, Hanson Aggregates, New Enterprise, Martin Stone and the H & K Group.
This was the second year Kemper Equipment hosted customers at the races. “It’s our way of saying thanks to our customers for their loyalty during the year,” said Lyn Kemper. A self-proclaimed “motorhead,” Kemper himself raced for several years in super comp (S/C) and bracket racing before retiring from his hobby in 2000.
The spectacular weather made for a fast track with few mishaps. Races were held for the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle categories. The event was full of many upsets, but Tony Schumacher defeated Larry Dixon to score a class-record-tying fifth straight victory in Top Fuel and run his unbeaten streak to 20 straight rounds with a victory.
Kemper Equipment is a major Mid-Atlantic distributor of quarry equipment and parts. Its headquarters is located in Honey Brook, Pa.
