Kobelco Construction Machinery America LLC, based in Carol Stream, Ill., has named Terry Sheehan vice president, for branches in North America on Dec. 19. His responsibilities include leading sales and marketing operations for the Kobelco Construction Machinery brand and reporting directly to Franco Fenoglio, who was appointed president of Kobelco Construction Machinery North America in September 2005.

“Terry started in the construction industry in a field position in Latin America and has worked in just about every aspect of the business, so we are very excited that he has joined Kobelco,” said Fenoglio. “We firmly believe Terry will be able to drive positive change and grow our construction business.”

Sheehan joined Kobelco from Komatsu, where he was president of the Komatsu Equipment Company dealership in Salt Lake City, serving Utah, Nevada and Wyoming. Previously, he worked at Komatsu America in Vernon Hills, Ill., GE Capital and Harnischfeger (now P&H Mining Equipment).

“In taking this position, the challenge that intrigued me most was the opportunity to take the Kobelco construction business to the next level by giving these great construction products more exposure for greater market share,” said Sheehan. “In my role as vice president, I will be working closely with our dealers to continue to improve our distribution strategy, as well as to improve visibility for the full line of Kobelco excavators.”

During a career that has spanned more than 30 years, Sheehan has done business in more than 80 countries and has worked with several companies in the construction industry, with assignments in the United States, Europe and Mexico.

Kobelco offers a full line of compact, mid-size and full-size excavators ranging from 1.9 to 52.9 tons (1.7 to 48 t).
