Liebherr Construction Equipment Company has announced plans for a third location of its Liebherr Equipment Source dealerships. The new dealership will open in Baltimore, MD, this summer.

Liebherr Equipment Source is a company-owned dealership for the full line of Liebherr Earthmoving Equipment; in addition the Baltimore location will join Manassas in serving the needs of the customers in the scrap handling and material handling segments.

“Liebherr Equipment Source was created in late 2003 to support Liebherr customers when local independent dealer representation was lost due to a dealership closure or merger. When our dealers in Lorton, VA, and Jessup, MD, closed their branches we opened the Manassas, VA, location to support these customers. As a result of our success in Northern Virginia and a large and growing Liebherr base in Maryland, we are pleased to expand our physical presence in the Baltimore area,” said Duane Wilder, president of the Liebherr Construction Equipment Company.

Jim Meyer, serves as Retail Business manager for the organization, which is headquartered in Newport News, VA.

Meyer, who joined Liebherr in 2003, has more than 30 years of dealership experience with both private and company-owned organizations. Prior to joining Liebherr he held a variety of positions with company-owned and independent dealerships.

“Since Jerry Tucker, who is well known to area contractors and was with a former dealer, joined us in late 2003, we have been expanding our support in the Baltimore area. As business grew in 2004 we were pleased to have Ken Cunningham who is an experienced field service technician join our organization, which allowed us to enhance product support with our fully-equipped field service truck. We are currently hiring additional staff and making arrangements to open the facility as soon as possible,” said Meyer.

Jerry Tucker will serve as branch sales manager.

Liebherr Equipment Source offers sales, parts, service and rental. The new location will stock an extensive spare parts inventory and will be staffed by factory trained mechanics and fully equipped field service trucks for on-site service needs.

Liebherr Equipment Source, of Baltimore, will be located at 6940 O’Connor Lane, Hanover, MD. Liebherr Equipment Source operates additional dealerships in Manassas, VA, and Raleigh, NC.
