The Manitowoc Company Inc. announced that Manitowoc Crane Group (MCG) is introducing 11 new cranes at Bauma, the construction industry’s largest trade show. This is the first time all three of Manitowoc’s crane brands –– Manitowoc, Potain, and Grove –– are being shown together at Bauma.

Manitowoc Crane Group is introducing new all-terrain, rough-terrain, crawler, and tower cranes at this year’s show. In all, the company has 18 different cranes on display at Bauma, which is held every three years in Munich.

"Displaying all of our brands at Bauma will give our customers a better understanding of the breadth of our product line," said Glen Tellock, president of Manitowoc Crane Group. "We are introducing a number of innovative products, but we are particularly pleased with the launch of the Manitowoc Model 15000. This new crane, which was designed in the Czech Republic and built in Germany for the European market, clearly demonstrates how our acquisitions of Potain and Grove are enabling us to expand our range of global lift solutions."

The Model 15000, a 275-ton (249.5 t) capacity crawler crane produced at MCG’s Wilhelmshaven, Germany facility, is based on Manitowoc’s Model 999 crawler crane and shares its easy transportability and fast assembly. Besides the 15000, Manitowoc is also showcasing its Model 1015 crawler crane, which offers a basic capacity of 132 tons (119.7 t) and provides remarkable versatility, making it ideal for clamshell, dragline, pile driving, demolition, scrap handling, dredging and other duty-cycle applications.

Grove is introducing three new models at Bauma, including the GMK3055, a three-axle, 60-ton (54.4 t), long-boom, all-terrain crane. Another new crane, the GMK3055-1 is similar to the 3055, but features a full-power boom and a 55-ton (49.8 t) capacity. Grove’s third new model is the 90-ton (81.6 t) capacity RT890E, a rough-terrain crane that completes Grove’s E-Series RT range. Four other Grove all- terrain cranes are also part of the Manitowoc Crane Group exhibit.

Potain is introducing five new tower cranes, each featuring faster erection times and increased efficiency. The MDT 128, with a capacity of 6.6 tons (6 t), is a smaller version of the MDT 178, which was successfully launched last year. The main masthead of the MDT 128, including cab and controls, is a single-piece assembly that can be installed in one section. Another top-slewing tower crane, the MD 485B, is an improved version of Potain’s popular MD 485. It features a lighter jib of up to 262 ft. (79.9 m) in length that can be assembled in the air in one, two or three sections. Two models of the MD 485B are being introduced, a 22 and 27.5- ton (20 and 25 t) version.

Potain is also expanding its line of self-erecting tower cranes at Bauma with the introduction of its Igo 50, Igo MA 13 and GTMR 346B. The new Igo 50 is the flagship of this product line, offering a capacity of 4.4 tons (4 t). The Igo MA 13 is a highly mobile self-erecting unit that can be towed with full ballast at speeds of 50 mph. Its capacity is 2 tons (1.8 t). Finally, the GTMR 346B, with a maximum 6.6-ton (6 t) lifting capacity, is an updated version of the GTMR 346.
