Miller Electric Mfg. Co. held a press event recently at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., home of the Green Bay Packers, and where the $140 million expansion project is currently under way. The primary function of the day was introducing the new Trailblazer welder generators, which were tested and used extensively at the Lambeau expansion site. Miller staff were on hand showcasing how different welding technologies are used in the construction industry, specifically structural steel construction.

Miller and Hobart Brothers have been named the “Official Welding Equipment Provider of the Lambeau Field Expansion” and have partnered with the Neenah, Wis.-based Miron Construction to provide the construction team and ironworkers with the latest in welding and heating technologies, consumables, weld fume extraction equipment and welding safety gear for the new Lambeau Field expansion project.

The expansion will be completed in 2013 and involves substantial new construction to both end zones, including 6,600 new seats in the south end zone and new high-definition video boards in both end zones. Both video boards and a new viewing terrace in the north end zone will be operational for the 2012 season.

Miller and Hobart Brothers have worked extensively with Miron Construction throughout the project to use both new and proven welding technologies for the construction industry. Every piece of welding equipment Miron Construction used on the project was designed and manufactured by Miller. This includes the latest in engine-driven welding technology, weld fume extraction equipment and welding safety gear. The companies also worked together to convert traditional processes over to new methods of improving weld quality, productivity and safety, such as using Flux-Cored welding and induction heating technology in structural steel applications.
