The Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association’s (MITA) annual Conference and Trade Show was held at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant, Mich., on Jan. 21 through 23. The theme this year was “The Road to Success” and featured a general session and award ceremony, focused meetings and several sessions covering subjects ranging from an update on the MITA Political Action Committee initiatives, compliance issues, healthcare and accounting and succession strategies.
The event featured keynote speaker J.B. Berntstein, CEO of an athlete management firm, Access Group, and the inspiration behind Disney Film’s Million Dollar Arm, a movie about two men from India recruited to play Major League Baseball in the United States.
This year at the show, a great deal of attention was focused on Proposal 1, legislation introduced by Gov. Rick Snyder for a long term, and many agreed, much needed increase to Michigan’s transportation funding of $1.2 billion annually.
The MITA trade show provided an opportunity for attendees to meet and talk with Michigan’s leading equipment, product and service providers. To conclude the first day of meetings, AIS Construction Equipment Corporation/Contractors Rental Corporation hosted an open reception followed by a reception hosted by Ritchie Brothers Auctioneers. Alta Equipment Company sponsored the Presidential Breakfast on the second day of activities and Michigan CAT sponsored the Industry Reception to close the event.
