National Crane added a new series to its line of boom trucks. The Series 1300H is a 30-ton (27 t) capacity, stand-up control crane. It is the largest capacity National Crane that can be mounted on a three-axle truck, while maintaining an overall vehicle length of under 40 ft. (12 m) and carrying more than 3 tons (2.7 t) of payload.

Mike Herbert, senior project engineer at National Crane, said the crane is a brand new addition and enhances the company’s product offering.

“The 1300H fills the gap between the 1100 series and 1400H series stand-up crane models,” he said. “It has all the hallmark features of National quality as well as many innovative additions.”

One of the new additions is a control console technology called “Easy Reach.” The console itself moves from one operator station to the other. Unlatching the spring assisted console allows for easier movement into the transport and operation positions. According to Herbert, this feature will be a tremendous time-saver for operators. “When the operator has to move between the load on the ground and the controls on the truck, he doesn’t have to constantly walk around the bed to reach the controls or climb over the payload to reach the ground,” Herbert said.

The Easy Reach technology also makes the 1300H the only stand-up control crane with pilot-operated hydraulics. All of the valves are centrally located behind a hinged door that allows easy access for service. “Service technicians can open the hinged door and easily reach the crane’s plumbing, hydraulics, gear box, and other components,” Herbert said. “We have worked closely with our colleagues at Manitowoc Crane CARE to ensure these new cranes are not only easier to operate, but easier to service.”

The Easy Reach console offers adjustable operating height for ergonomic operation, a start/stop switch, a console-mounted hour meter, and 12-volt power outlet.

The 1300H also features CAN-BUS electronics along with a graphic load moment indicator display and Work Area Definition Systems. Dual “H” style outriggers and rear stabilizers allow full-span, mid-span, and retracted-span lifting capabilities. The four-section boom is available in 69 ft. (21 m), 100 ft (30.5 m), or 110 ft. (33.5 m) lengths. Maximum tip height is 162 ft. (49 m) with the 110 ft. (33.5 m) boom and 44 ft. (13.4 m) jib.

National Crane offers the 1300H with optional features such as a 25 to 44 ft. (7.6 m to 13.4 m) two-section jib. Customers also can order a front stabilizer to allow a 410-degree working area. Radio remote controls are available as are personnel baskets and a removable steel bulkhead. Durable wooden or steel beds offer payload hauling flexibility.
