The Contractors Association of Will & Grundy Counties held its Meet & Greet Expo on May 1 at the Stone City VFW in Joliet, Ill. Once again nearly 200 people attended the expo.
Attendees walked around and visited the 30 various vendors’ booths while enjoying the refreshments included in the admission fee. Bob Baish, Baish Excavating and his cooking crew prepared delicious shrimp, beef, chicken and pork kabob’s on the grills. The expo committee and the VFW prepared the rest of the food. Although there were vendors both inside and outside, the weather did not cooperate and most visitors stayed indoors.
Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a myriad of raffles. The winner of the CAWGC free Exhibitor Bingo drawing was Joe Tiffany, Midwest Access Solutions, who went home with a $500 iPad. Two CAWGC member companies held raffles with 100 percent of their proceeds going to the Joliet Area Hospice. Rod Baker Ford donated $400 worth of services at the dealership and the winner of that drawing was Dan Byrnes, Underground Pipe & Valve. George’s Landscaping held a drawing also for a beautiful floral planter and the winner of that drawing was Barb Van Herwaarden, Hastings Mutual. The proceeds from the CAWGC 50/50 raffle also went to the Joliet Area Hospice. The winner of that raffle was Rich Stott, Stott Contracting, who won more than $300. Numerous exhibitors also held drawings.
The expo committee consisted of Chair Lori DuPree, DuPree Construction; Dan Byrnes, Underground Pipe & Valve; Christina Hrebic, Gnade Insurance; Nick Johnson, Lyman & Nielsen LLC; Nick Stipanovich, Illinois Truck & Equipment; Sharon Nicholson, Baish Excavating; and Mary Metz from the Contractors Association. This is one of the Association’s great networking events and keeps growing every year, according to the association.
