Construction Equipment Guide

Nuss Equipment Group LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nuss Truck Group Inc., entered into an agreement to purchase the equipment assets and inventory of a Sweeney Brothers Tractor, Burnsville, Minn., branch Aug. 1.

Sweeney Brothers Tractor Co., Fargo, N.D., established in 1946, is a third generation construction equipment dealer primarily representing Volvo Construction Equipment, as well as Bomag America and Liebherr lines.

The Burnsville branch is located at 12540 Dupont Avenue South, was established in 1982, and currently has 25 employees. This purchase agreement does not affect the Sweeney Brothers Fargo base or other branches in Minot and Bismarck, N.D.

Nuss has plans to expand the Volvo Construction Equipment sales and service to include all Minnesota branches. The Minnesota customer base for both construction equipment and vocational trucks are uniquely interwoven allowing for new opportunities to add more products and services in the same geographic market.

Nuss Truck Group was established in 1979, formerly known as Mack Trucks of Rochester Inc. The truck dealership growth continued with additional branches in Mankato (1983), Eau Claire (1984); Duluth (1991); St. Cloud (1997) and Roseville (2001). The company is a franchised dealer for Mack Trucks, Volvo Trucks North America, Isuzu Commercial Trucks, GMC Medium Duty Trucks and Nissan Diesel UD. In addition, Minnesota Truck Leasing, a subsidiary company offers truck rental and leasing to customers.

Both the seller and buyer are optimistic that this agreement will result in expanded opportunities for employees, customers and current suppliers affected by this business sale and anticipate a smooth transfer of the Burnsville-based business operation. Customers will be individually notified regarding the handling of their existing equipment leases and business accounts.

Sweeney Brothers wishes to thank all customers for their many years of past business support.
