PennDOT awarded a contract for replacement of the bridge on SR 1003 Blue Jay Road over Tionesta Creek in Howe Township, Forest County.

A $2.3 million contract was awarded to Francis J. Palo Inc. of Clarion for the construction of a two-span, composite steel, multi-girder bridge over Tionesta Creek on a new alignment of SR 1003, Blue Jay Road, in Howe Township, Forest County.

Work has begun on the new structure and the contractor plans on working until the end of December. Work will then be suspended until around April 2010. At that time work will resume and should be completed by the middle of August 2010. State Route 1003 will be closed for approximately two weeks in the summer to construct the tie-ins to the new structure. Details of the closure will be released next summer.
