Pennsylvania811 Safety Days was held on May 8 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.

More than 500 attendees piled through the doors for a day filled with vendors and seminars. The day ended with a complimentary lunch provided by the sponsors and a game of Jeopardy.

Sessions included:

• how to look up tickets and how to respond;

• a discussion from OSHA representatives on construction safety;

• a locating demonstration for temporary marking color code;

• a “when shovel meets dirt” demonstration; and

• a gas safety presented by PECO.

UGI Utilities also discussed the challenges with cross bore and legislation.

Two additional events will be held in Pennsylvania for Dig 811 — one in central Pennsylvania at the York Expo Center on June 18 and another in western Pennsylvania on Sept. 10 at the Monroeville Convention Center.
