PHOENIX (AP) Rio Nuevo has delayed its date with the City Council to ask for $200 million for the Tucson Origins project until December.

The switch also may delay a series of presentations to committees and boards of directors that have authority over the project’s final outcome.

The Nov. 28 presentations were expected to unveil the conceptual plans for the Origins park, which will showcase a rebuilt mission and three museums.

But Rio Nuevo Director Greg Shelko said the City Council will have its say with the Origins plans by year’s end, and the construction timetable remains in place to have some sections of Origins open as soon as 2008.

Along with the mission, The Origins park will include buildings for the University of Arizona Science Center, the Arizona Historical Society and the Arizona State Museum. They will open around 2010.
