For more than four decades, R.W. Moore Equipment Company has been selling larger-scale heavy equipment to contractors in eastern North Carolina.

In 2003, it added another facet to its business and became a dealer for compact equipment, too.

And to further advance the sale of Takeuchi mini-excavators and compact track loaders and ASV compact track loaders, the company recently hired Utility Sales Manager Austin Robertson.

He was brought aboard by R.W. Moore with years of experience selling compact equipment.

The smaller price tags and the ability of the machines to handle smaller jobs has created a new market for R.W. Moore. While some of its current utility and grading contractors have been buying the compact equipment, the new line allows them to pursue contractors involved in landscaping, waterproofing, concrete, footing, plumbing, retaining walls and tree removal, Robertson said.

The company has three sales representatives devoted to the compact line, but the other 12 main line representatives are able to work with the compact equipment, too.

Robertson sees a positive future for Takeuchi and ASV equipment.

“As the industry advances over time, skid steers will become a thing of the past,” he said.

Takeuchi, which boasts one of the first track loaders and the first mini-excavator in the market, offers durable machines with good resale value, he said.

And the ASV machines are the only ones on the market that efficiently run mulch heads, Robertson added.

Takeuchi and ASV both offer more horsepower on their larger machines than any other brand in the compact market, he said.

Founded in 1962, R.W. Moore has six locations in eastern North Carolina: Raleigh, Ahoskie, Fayetteville, Greenville, New Bern and Wilmington.

It also represents John Deere, Interstate Trailers, Bell Equipment, Sakai and ProLine Trailers. CEG Staff
