January marks the 15th year anniversary of a partnership between the Specialized Carriers Rigging Association (SC) and NationsBuilders Insurance Services (NBIS). To celebrate this milestone, SC renewed its commitment to NBIS with a three-year contract to extend the company’s status as the association’s exclusively endorsed provider of property and casualty insurance.

SC selected the company as the exclusive “all-lines” insurance administrator for SC during the January 1996 board and committee meetings. From the beginning, NBIS partnered with the SC insurance committee and the risk management task force to design programs that fit association members’ unique needs.

The partnership began helping the program’s clients avoid injuries and property damage. Over time, the program has evolved to reflect technological, regulatory and legal changes affecting SC members.

Among the highlights of the NBIS Risk Management Support System are “toolbox talk” format, a quick reference Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) guide for the lifting industry, and a truck driver risk assessment guide. The “tool kit” is made available to members that insure through NBIS.

NBIS coverages designed for SC members include trucker’s liability, contractors auto, general liability, custom cargo/transit, inland marine, excess/umbrella and worker’s compensation. NBIS coverage is rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best.

The program’s design allows SC members to maintain their relationship with their existing brokers or NBIS key producers. Members choosing NBIS receive the highly competitive rates and broad industry-specific coverage and industry specific risk management while their agents receive their standard commission, according to the company.

“The efficiency and effectiveness of NBIS insurance and risk management programs only partially explain why the company has become such a valued partner for our association,” said SC Executive Vice President Joel Dandrea.

“NBIS also presents timely educational sessions during our major meetings; sponsors numerous receptions and other events at these meetings; supports American Cranes Transport, our official domestic magazine, through advertising and editorial submissions; sponsors and presents specialized webinars; encourages its management to serve on SC committees; successfully recruits new association members; and contributes significantly to SC’s bottom-line through royalty contributions exceeding $1.5 million since our partnership began.”

Dandrea added he expected SC’s relationship with NBIS to grow even stronger in the coming years. He encouraged members to always consider NBIS when deciding on optimal property and casualty insurance.

The Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association is an international trade association of more than 1,300 members from 43 nations. Members are involved in specialized transportation, machinery moving and erecting, industrial maintenance, millwrighting and crane and rigging operations, manufacturing and rental. SC helps members run more efficient and safer businesses by monitoring and affecting pending legislation and regulatory policies at the state and national levels; researching and reporting on safety concerns and best business practices; and providing four yearly forums where these and other relevant member issues can be advanced.

NBIS is a hybrid managing general underwriting organization specializing in construction or transport program coverage, and specialty programs distributed through agents/brokers nationwide. As a full-service provider program, NBIS delivers custom program insurance options to agents/brokers, reinsurance support to its partners, claims adjusting/claims investigation and risk management tools to all parties involved to achieve lowest cost outcomes for customers.
