Dewey “Duke” Jurich, 61, of Glen Mills, Pa., died peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on March 16, 2012. Born in Chester, Pa., he was a longtime resident of Aston, Pa., before moving to his late residence eight years ago.
Along with his brother, he owned A.J. Jurich Inc. A graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1968, Duke served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, the American Legion Post #926 in Green Ridge, the Moose Lodge, Suburban Contractors, Anthony’s Italian Club and also served on the board of directors of Delco Anglers.
Known for his love and devotion to his family and his many friends, but especially for his love for his grandchildren, Duke will be deeply missed. A friend spoke for all who knew him when he said, “Duke made us all better men just by knowing him.”
He was the son of the late Albert J. Jurich and brother of the late Albert J. “Jackie” Jurich Jr. Survivors include his wife of 35 years Laura Lister Jurich; his children Jenna Williams (Ryan), Becky Jurich and Dewey Jurich; his mother Stella Wegrzyn Jurich; his siblings Robert Jurich (Colleen), Janice Rossi (Charles) and Diana Chiappetta; his grandchildren Parker and Sophia Williams; his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Funeral Mass was held at the Church of St. Joseph, 3225 Concord Rd., Aston, Pa. 19014. Burial was at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery, Chester Heights.
