Schlouch 2010 Projects Meet a Variety of Needs in Pa.

Variety and challenge highlight the diverse jobs being handled by Schlouch Incorporated this summer in Pennsylvania. The company’s range of capabilities and resources has been brought into play as business opportunities show modest signs of improvement. Here are some of the projects Schlouch is tackling:

Berks County

Tulpehocken Area School District has selected Schlouch to handle construction of new artificial turf field including an 8-lane running track, bleachers, excavation and utilities for new support building located on 10 acres in Jefferson Township, Pa. Schlouch is providing demolition, sediment/erosion control, earthwork, sanitary and storm sewers, water line installation, underground infiltration system, fence, retaining wall, paving and landscaping. In addition, Schlouch also will provide excavation and backfilling for footers and building utilities. Work will be completed by fall 2010.

Muhlenberg Township has selected Schlouch to handle roadway improvements at Tuckerton Road and Reading Crest Avenue. Schlouch is providing installation of water main, handicap ramps, concrete curb, sidewalk, pavement patching, paving and traffic signalization. Work will be completed by fall 2010.

Borough of Hamburg has named Schlouch to widen a bridge over Mill Creek and provide acceleration and deceleration lanes. The project is in the Borough of Hamburg. Schlouch is providing clearing, grubbing, survey, stakeout, earthwork, storm sewer, sediment and erosion control, concrete, paving and seeding. Work will be completed by fall 2010.

Timothy DiNoto has chosen Schlouch for site preparation work for restaurant renovations and expansion at the Ugly Mug Subdivision Phase 3. The 3.7-acre site is in Douglassville, Pa. Schlouch is providing survey, stakeout, earthwork, storm sewer, sediment and erosion control, paving and landscaping. As part of the work Schlouch has relocated a portion of the Schuylkill River Trail, and installed erosion and sediment controls which also will be used by Union Township as part of its new road construction to the proposed township maintenance building. Work will be completed by summer 2010.

Lackawana County

Taylor Associates L.P. has named Schlouch to prepare the site for the Taylor Commons, a Walmart Super Center and 125,000 sq. ft. of small shops. The 72-acre site is located in Taylor, Pa. Schlouch is providing survey, stakeout, rock removal, earthwork, curbs and paving. In addition Schlouch is crushing 32,000 tons (29,030 t) of rock from the site for use as a sub-base for the center’s parking lot. Work will be completed by summer 2010.

Lehigh County

The city of Allentown has awarded Schlouch to handle roadway improvements at Hanover Avenue and East Hamilton Street. This is a design/build project bid through PennDOT ECMS system. Schlouch is providing detailed plans for construction as well as water main installation, handicap ramps, concrete curb, sidewalk, pavement patching, paving and traffic signal modifications. Work will be completed by fall 2010.

Trexler Fields Twin Home Project L.L.C. has named Schlouch to prepare the site for 62 twin homes on 206 acres. The site is located on Trexler Road. Schlouch is providing clearing, grubbing, blasting, rock removal, survey, stakeout, sediment/erosion control, earthwork, sanitary and storm sewers, water line installation, roads, curbs, paving and seeding. In addition Schlouch will provide highway improvements on Route 222. Work will be completed by fall 2010.

Mulvey Construction Inc. has named Schlouch to prepare a two-acre site on Tilghman Street in the city of Allentown, for a McDonald’s restaurant. Schlouch is providing demolition, sediment/erosion control, earthwork, sanitary and storm sewers, water line installation, building pad preparation, concrete work on both site and building, curbs and paving. Work was completed by June 2010.

Luzerne County

Zamias Services Inc. has chosen Schlouch to handle site preparation for Walmart and additional strip stores at Pittston Commons located on 31 acres in Pittston, Pa. Schlouch is providing sediment/erosion control, earthwork, sanitary and storm sewers, water line installation, concrete curb, fence, retaining wall, site lighting, paving and landscaping. In addition, Schlouch also will provide excavation and backfilling for utilities. Work will be completed by fall 2010.

Montgomery County

Upper Merion Area School District has named Schlouch to handle construction of paved D-Zone for field events and the resurfacing of existing running track in King of Prussia, Pa. Schlouch is providing demolition, sediment/erosion control, storm drainage, underground retention basin, fence, paving and landscaping. Work will be completed by summer 2010.

Schuylkill County

Speedwell Construction has selected Schlouch to provide concrete work for a new CVS store in Cressona, Pa. The store is located at the intersection of Routes 183 and 61. Work will be completed by fall 2010.
