Washington D.C. – Members of 14 transportation construction industry associations will come to Washington for the second annual Rally for Roads, the nation’s largest transportation funding advocacy rally on Tuesday, March 20th. The first Rally for Roads drew over 500 supporters last year and this year’s event is expected to double participation.

“With continued high unemployment—combined with the loss of construction sector jobs—the need for strong surface transportation legislation has never been more important,” said Kerri Leininger, a Rally for Roads spokesperson and the Senior Vice President of Government and Political Affairs for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. “That sense of urgency is why we’re expecting such great support for Rally for Roads this year.”

Rally for Roads is a one-day event designed to promote the importance of a fully-funded, multi-year transportation bill and the role it plays on stimulating the economy, maintaining the nation’s global competitiveness and above all, creating American jobs. “By bringing workers from all facets of the transportation industry, its suppliers, and key legislators together, we will signal to Congress and the White House that America must make transportation job number one,” said Leininger.
