Shawmut Equipment Company Inc., a distributor of the Manitowoc Crane Group, has expanded into the Maritime provinces of Canada.

The Manitowoc Crane Group and Shawmut Equipment recently entered into an agreement, which will extend Shawmut Equipment’s distributor territory into the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

Starting immediately, Shawmut Equipment will sell and support Manitowoc, Grove and National Cranes in the Canadian Maritime provinces.

“We thank the Manitowoc Crane Group for granting us this opportunity and for its trust and confidence in our company,” Shawmut Equipment President David O’Connell said. “We have been fortunate to establish relationships with crane rental firms in these provinces, and we look forward to earning the business of other crane users in the Maritimes.”

Founded in 1957, Shawmut Equipment is a third generation family-owned crane distributorship. The company solely focuses on and specializes in the sale and support of cranes.

In addition to its role as a crane dealer in the Maritime provinces, Shawmut Equipment represents the Manitowoc Crane Group in the New England states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

For several years, Shawmut Equipment has been doing business with Canadian based crane companies, and the territory expansion will allow Shawmut to enhance the way in which it serves its Canadian customers, according to the company.

Shawmut Equipment is currently establishing its sales and product support operations in Canada. The crane distributor will have sales and service personal in the provinces as well as a facility with crane repair capabilities and spare parts in stock.
