Joseph M. Miscavage, 59, husband of Mary Ellen (Ferenchak) Miscavage, of Royersford, PA, died Monday, Oct. 11, in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, from injuries he suffered in a car accident Oct. 6.
Born in Swedeland, PA, he was a son of Mary A. (Balas) Miscavage, of Limerick, and the late Joseph Miscavage.
Mr. Miscavage was a 1963 graduate of the Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown.
He worked as a driver for the JDM Concrete Co. in Phoenixville for more than 17 years.
Mr. Miscavage was shop steward for the Teamsters Union.
He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Royersford.
Mr. Miscavage was a member of the church choir, Pre-Cana, founder and co-chairman of the parish fair for more than 15 years, and a volleyball coach.
He was a supporter and blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Mr. Miscavage founded the Big Squinch Charity Golf Tournament, which sponsored various charities in the tri-state area for more than 15 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 38 years are a daughter, Joy E. Miscavage, of Schwenksville; two sons, J. Alex, husband of Sue Miscavage, of Gilbertsville, and Daniel A. Miscavage, of Schwenksville; two brothers, Francis, husband of Marguerite Miscavage, of New Jersey, and Gregory, husband of Donna Miscavage, of Pottstown; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas F. Doyle, church pastor officiating.
Burial was private.
