Skanska USA Building Inc. has formed a strategic partnership with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Bergen County Building Trades Council and the N.J. Department of Labor & Workforce Development for the New Meadowlands Stadium project in East Rutherford, N.J.
Skanska entered into an extended, voluntary, cooperative relationship to achieve an optimum level of worker safety and health at the job site.
“Through this joint effort, we aim to minimize risks to workers, reduce injury and illness rates, and improve construction safety and health throughout the length of the project,” said OSHA’s Region 2 Administrator Patricia K. Clark.
“This strategic partnership is a great opportunity for all of us to work together for the common goal of ensuring that all workers go home safely at the end of the day,” said Dave Korman, Skanska’s environmental, health and safety director.
Skanska is the construction manager for the 1.9 million-sq.-ft. New Meadowland’s Stadium, which involves the construction of a technologically advanced open-air stadium with seats for 82,000 spectators, including 217 luxury suite boxes. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2010.
