SnowWolf has introduced its new ActivEdge, a floating sectional cutting edge with composite springs that are new to the snow-removal industry.

The ActivEdge is an upgrade option for SnowWolf's standard AR400 steel cutting edge on the QuattroPlow, QuattroPlow XT, QuattroPlow TR, UltraPlowand UltraPusher TE.

"The ActivEdge is an accessory upgrade that takes our best plows up one more notch in effectiveness and efficiency while introducing another SnowWolf innovation to our industry," SnowWolf Co-CEO Mark Holman said. "Its development began as a reaction to requests from snow-removal companies, independent contractors and our dealers. We're proud of the fact that we've been able to deliver what they need and want."

Each individual floating cutting edge can recess up to 1 ½ in. 3.8 cm).

Like traditional sectional plows, the ActivEdge has multiple sections that move, or float, over obstacles or uneven surfaces. Since they conform more closely to the surfaces, regardless of contours or obstacles, the result is a cleaner scrape than is possible with a one-piece plow.

However, the ActivEdge's scrape is even cleaner than traditional sectional plows because the cutting edge sections pivot in addition to moving up and down. Rather than entire moldboard sections rising over obstacles or contours, leaving spaces between sections uncleared, each ActivEdge section pivots to clear a greater percentage of the surface under that particular section. The result is a cleaner cut across the full length of the plow, according to the manufacturer.

The cleaner scrape also means contractors do not need to use as much salt on plowed surfaces.

The individual cutting edge sections intuitively angle without binding.

Co-CEO Jerry Holman said SnowWolf designed and engineered the ActivEdge for the company's signature simplicity, durability and versatility at a cost that makes sense.

Just three or four bolts hold each ActivEdge section in place, so maintenance or cutting edge replacement are fast and easy.

The long-lasting cutting edge is AR400 steel, an alloy created specifically for maximum abrasion resistance, toughness and durability.

The composite springs are impervious to water and all other natural elements, maintains a consistent compression strength through temperatures from below minus 40 F to more than 150 F; and has exceptional rebound characteristics, according to the manufacturer.

ActivEdge can conform to most any surface ensuring the best possible scrape.

ActivEdge sections come in 18- and 24-in. (45.7 and 61 cm) lengths, depending on the length of the plow. Itfits any of the five SnowWolf plow accessories withtotal widths from 6 to 11 ft. (1.8 to 3.3 m). The ActivEdge also can be retrofitted to previously purchased SnowWolf plows by simply replacing the trip edge.

"We took our time developing the ActivEdge because we wanted to make sure we got it right," SnowWolf Co-CEO Jerry Holman said. "The result is a floating sectional cutting edge that will work exactly the same way regardless of the elements, plowing conditions or storage temperatures."
