Construction Equipment Guide

Founded in 1966 by Fulton Owensby, State Line Machine Inc. has been servicing the heavy-equipment industry for 35 years in the four state area of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.

Originally the business consisted of one building housing an undercarriage rebuild shop and an office. Today, it has grown to a full-service facility encompassing two shop buildings, a 10,000-sq-ft. warehouse, office and showroom facilities.

Family-owned and operated from the beginning, State Line has continued in that tradition and today is managed by Fulton’s son and son-in-law. Fulton Jr., serves as sales manager and Forrust Miller serves as general manager.

Together with Fulton Sr. they have approximately 90 years of combined experience in the construction industry. Their experience and an ongoing commitment to honesty, integrity, and excellence in business make them optimistic about the future of State Line.

Their vision is to see the company develop further in its ability to meet the largest contractors’ needs while still maintaining the personalized service that customers have come to expect. The company’s commitment, to grow and expand to better service the industry, will soon extend beyond the company’s Wilmington, DE, location. Plans are under way to establish a branch in downstate Delaware to meet the needs of that area and the eastern Shore.

Over the years, State Line has developed a reputation for its quality undercarriage repairing and rebuilding. Now, with the recent addition of Dave Esposito as service manager, it has the range and depth of experience to service its customers’ needs better than ever before. Today, its experienced team of mechanics is qualified and equipped to help with any service problems whether it is electrical, hydraulic, engine, or drivetrain. In addition, the company also continues to provide field service, welding and bucket rebuilding services. Soon, the company will have shop and field line-boring capabilities.

Providing quality undercarriage parts has always been a key part of State Line’s business and that area is expanding. Presently, the company stocks complete undercarriages for most machines. In addition to its cutting edges and teeth inventories, it has grown to the point that it has the most complete line in the service area, according to the company. In addition to what it has in stock, State Line has buckets, attachments, hydraulic cylinder seal kits, and a very wide range of undercarriages, new and used components readily available.

Recently, the company has added to its parts staff to keep its commitment to promptly process customers’ requests.

Growing up in a family-owned excavating business, Fulton Sr., always had an appreciation for construction equipment. That fondness evolved into his hobby. Over the years, he has amassed an extensive collection of construction toy models, watch fobs, sales literature, and completely restored antique crawler tractors. The collection continued to grow to include related items such as restored gas pumps, Coke, Pep Boys, and other collectibles and memorabilia.

In 1995, the hobby expanded to the point that a toy and collectible division called Rare Finds was added to the business. State Line customers who share Fulton Sr.’s passion for equipment often are found sidetracked in the Rare Finds showroom adjoining the company’s offices.

Over the years, State Line Machine has grown, developed and changed. However, through all changes some things have remained constant. The desire to provide quality, personal service, and affordable prices to every customer still remains at the heart of the business. The company’s philosophy is that all relationships do matter and people still do business with people. In light of this, State Line Machine Inc. appreciates its customers during the 35 years in business.
