The new concrete cutter from the Waiblingen power tool manufacturer perceptibly boosts efficiency on construction and redevelopment sites. With features such as a 40 cm cutting depth and the possibility of executing precise corner cuts, it enables jobs to be carried out on the building site in a very short time that until now required a lot of setting up and laborious manual work. Clever, down to the details
STIHL’s many years of experience with the extreme demands of concrete cutting in the cut-off saw segment are reflected in the development of all the components of the STIHL GS 461. That starts with the low-emission STIHL 2-MIX engine with 1-in-4 port technology, which provides high torque across a wide engine speed range. And it uses up to 20 per cent less fuel to do that, compared with conventional STIHL two-stroke engines. The long-life air filter system is perfectly tailored to the tough working conditions on building sites and traps even fine dust. The HD2 air filter achieves long service life and is easily accessible without requiring tools. Together with the long cleaning intervals that reduces the maintenance to an absolute minimum.
Exclusive cutting attachment
STIHL develops the cutting attachments for its power tools – from chain saws to concrete cutters – itself and also manufactures them in-house. One technical highlight is the 36 GBM diamond abrasive chain, exclusive to STIHL, which is characterized by long life and fast, smooth cutting. The diamond segments are pre-sharpened so the STIHL GS 461 is ready for use straight away. The humped drive link ensures an optimum application for plunge cutting and cutting to length. The robust Rollomatic G guide bar has interior water routing to cool and flush the guide bar and chain, along with a hardened bar rail for longer life. The water is accurately fed into the cut to bind the dust effectively at that point. The flushing nozzles angled towards the bar nose effectively direct the water to the areas of highest stress. The water connection and water flow control are mounted on the machine itself.
