Tractor & Equipment Company (TEC) Aug. 1 opened a satellite parts store in Alabaster, AL.

The Birmingham-based company’s new branch, located just off Interstate 65 at 150 Piper Lane.

Steve Day, TEC’s vice president of parts, said the new location allows customers to avoid having to drive into Birmingham’s traffic, which gets the part to the job site faster and reduces downtime.

New and aftermarket parts, as well as remanufactured components, are stocked at this location, which primarily serves portions of Chilton, Shelby, Bibb, Jefferson, Talladega, Coosa and Tuscaloosa counties. Parts availability at this location, is not limited to just the Komatsu line. Aftermarket parts for most other manufacturers also are in stock and ready for sale. Hydraulic hose building for almost any make or model machine also is available at this location.

Overseeing the new location is Parts Manager Greg Riggs, who has been with TEC for more than five years in the parts and service department. Riggs is well versed on the Komatsu Customer Support System viewer and is very familiar with the schematics and parts for many Komatsu machines. Riggs said he fosters the company’s philosophy of total customer commitment, adding “If we don’t have a part in stock, we’ll get it.”

Being centrally located among the Birmingham, Montgomery and Tuscaloosa branches, this location has the ability to pull parts quickly from any one of these locations or through TEC’s Network Overnight Delivery system, which can access parts from any of the 22 TEC branches or from the Komatsu parts distribution center in Ripley, TN.

“I’m confident that I can help meet our customers’ needs in this area and grow the business of this branch,” Riggs said, who lives close to the branch and will make himself available after hours to help support TEC’s customers.
