On Oct. 5, Elmer W. Davis Inc. picked up its new 2018 Terex BT28106 boom truck from Empire Crane Company LLC in Syracuse, N.Y. The BT28106 will be the ninth Terex (fourth BT28106) in its continually growing crane fleet.

Elmer W. Davis Inc., one of the largest roofing contractors in New York, has become particulary fond of Terex cranes. Superintendent Damon Runyon expressed the "ease of service" with his Terex machines, saying they are "reliable cranes with almost no downtime."

With a 28 ton (25 t) capacity, 106 ft. (32 m) boom and 30 to 47 ft. (9 to 14 m) jib, the company has found the Terex BT28106 to be the crane for it. The BT28106 offers a modular, dual-control console for operation from either side of the crane, work area definition and high-performance hydraulics.

Fleet Manager Carl Benson said, "the boom length and jib length fits our roofing needs and the rapid mobility of a boom truck makes things a lot easier. We don't have to worry about transportation or set-up and take-down time."

The crane's first job will be a roofing at the Wegmans Supermarket in Fairmount, N.Y.
