Construction Equipment Guide

Tramac by Montabert released four new plate compactor/driver models to expand the Tramac product line and make compact soils trenches, seawalls, slopes and foundations a quick, safe and efficient process.

Featuring a flat top mount design, the Tramac plate compactors can easily be mounted to different carriers up to 100,000 lbs. The flat-top design allows a bracket cap to be added to the attachment based on the specific machine being used. Four outboard shock mounts distribute vibrations evenly while keeping the attachment level, improving compaction efficiency and extending component life. A standard flow control valve and pressure relieve valve prevent over-speeding, which can lead to poor compaction and reduce bearing life.

Applications for the plate compactor attachments include compacting trenches, gravel or asphalt; footings slab areas and slopes. The plate compactor also is very efficient for seawalls, sheet pile and posts driving. An excavator-mounted plate compactor attachment provides more powerful compaction force than hand-operated compactors and reduces the need for workers in the trench. The plate compactor operating system combines maximum eccentric weight with the exact proportions of amplitude and vibration frequency necessary to generate the most effective centrifugal force, according to the manufacturer.

Stephane Giroudon, brand manager stated, “We are very excited about the release of the new Tramac by Montabert compactor line. This is a completely new and innovative design that includes a flow control and a pressure relieve valve. It does not require a case drain for an easy installation on any excavators and backhoe loaders. The addition lends us the opportunity to display our company’s capabilities, to yet again, marry innovation and design while simultaneously upholding the legacy of delivering a reliable and quality product to our extensive network of dealers.”

The PCT 34 is approved for carrier weight ranging from 5,512 to 14,330 lbs. (2,500 to 6,500 kg). The attachment’s dynamic force is 3,400 lbs. and the compaction frequency is 2,100 vibrations per minute (vpm).

The PCT64 is approved for carrier weight ranging from 9,920 to 33,070 lbs. (4,500 to 15,000 kg). The attachment’s dynamic force is 6,400 lbs. and the compaction frequency is 2,000 vibrations per minute (vpm).

The PCT114 is approved for carrier weight ranging from 15,870 to 55,115 lbs. (7,198 to 25,000 kg). The attachment’s dynamic force is 11,350 lbs. and the compaction frequency is 2,000 vibrations per minute (vpm).

The PCT220 is approved for carrier weight ranging from 54,000 to 143,300lbs. (25,000 to 65,000 kg). The attachment’s dynamic force is 22,000 lbs. and the compaction frequency is 2,100 vibrations per minute (vpm).
