Tresca Machinery Inc., recently moved its Orlando branch into a new facility at 9481 Boggy Creek Rd. on the south side of town.

The new facility sits on approximately 1.5 acres and includes general office space, a parts department and a service department with four inside bays and two outside covered bays, as well as a wash rack.

The Orlando branch is headed up by Travis Tresca, vice president, and has 10 employees. Jim Cryer is operations manager and is responsible for the parts and service departments. The sales representatives working out of this branch are Jim Roche and Jeff Smith.

According to Travis, the company approaches the business with a family oriented philosophy.

“We are family owned, JCB is family owned and many of our customers are family-owned businesses. We try to treat our employees and our customers like family. This philosophy helps us to work closely with them to meet their individual needs instead of having to fit into our business model.”

Like the headquarters in Jacksonville, the Orlando branch’s primary account is the JCB line of construction equipment.

According to Tim Tresca, president of the company, “JCB’s family ownership creates a unique environment. It gives the company the ability to do a lot of things that other large corporations can’t. There is a lot more dealer interaction with the decision makers because there isn’t a lot of middle management to wade through to get to the top. Communication is open all the way up to Sir Anthony [Bamford, JCB Chairman] himself. In other corporations, a dealer may never get a chance to talk to the president or the chairman of the board, but we have the chance to get information straight from the horse’s mouth versus one of the foot soldiers.”

Tim, as president of JCB’s dealer council, feels that this open-door policy makes it easier to express opinions and requests — on both sides.

Tresca Machinery, since taking on the JCB line, has started to make inroads in the construction equipment industry by more than doubling the number of JCB machines in north and central Florida since taking on the account. Tim credits the acceptance of the machines to their quality.

“The way the company goes about the engineering process and the way it fabricates the product is superior. It’s all the way across the board, even down to processes such as the paint system. Another plus is that JCB doesn’t outsource the manufacture of parts. It has actually gone the opposite direction of most companies. For example, with its backhoes, we make our own cylinders, transmissions and axles. Next year we’ll even make our own engines. That improves quality because we have more control over the entire manufacturing process.”

Tresca Machinery represents the evolution of three generations and more than 40 years in the agricultural equipment business. The current business was formed in November 2003 to represent JCB Construction Equipment in northeast and central Florida from the offices in Orlando and Jacksonville. Brothers Tim and Travis Tresca took over the business from their father in 2004.

In addition to the JCB line Tresca also represents New Holland agriculture products, Kawasaki utility vehicles and a wide variety of used construction equipment.
