PART 1

Ever wonder if you are correctly completing the Form I-9? Concerned about having your I-9s audited? A host of in-depth areas will be covered to include; do you have to insert ‘N/A’ in various blocks?, the differences in the fillable version versus the paper copy; how to and who can make corrections during a self-audit; how the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division can assist you with how to avoid work-related discrimination, in regards to the Form I-9 and E-Verify, and other ‘in the weeds’ areas that will have even the most seasoned I-9 professionals saying, “I didn’t know that”! PART 2

E-Verify…… the Form I-9s companion will be the topic in this 2nd session of a 2 part series. E-Verify is the free web-based service administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows enrolled employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their new hires. From the federal perspective, E-Verify is voluntary for most users although mandatory, in some form or fashion, in over 20 states and for a host of federal contractors. We’ll review recent enhancements, when’s the earliest you can create a case in E-Verify, the tentative non-confirmation process, how you can check your ‘own’ work eligibility (myE-Verify) along with some advanced good to know tips.
