The John Deere 470G LC Excavator is the latest member of the production-class equipment lineup to be updated to meet Final Tier 4 emissions standards and to incorporate a bevy of customer-inspired and productivity-boosting features. The 367-horsepower model now comes fully loaded with an EPA Final Tier 4 13.5L diesel engine, a comfortable and spacious cab, along with an enhanced LCD monitor with simplified navigation. In addition, optional 2D/3D grade guidance sensor-mounting brackets enable customers to install their preferred aftermarket grade-control system.

“The construction industry continues to demand machinery that features enhanced uptime capabilities and technology that enhances the customer's bottom line,” said Mark Wall, excavator product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “Our production-class excavator portfolio continues to enhance itself with the 470G LC, which includes an automatically cleaning diesel particulate filter (DPF) and optional 2D/3D grade guidance sensor mounting brackets, offering contractors a durable solution for earth moving, pipeline and road-building projects.”

A stalwart in the John Deere line of G-Series excavators, the production-class model offers simplified maintenance options, with such features as a battery disconnect switch, spin-on fuel filters and two additional water separators to maintain long fuel filter life. The 470G LC's DPF can go up to 15,000 hours before ash removal, and, like its counterparts, engine and hydraulic oil sample ports allow for quick and convenient, proactive maintenance checks, which keep operators running longer. In addition, an improved step position on the track frame and handrails on the upper structure provide multiple points of contact when accessing the engine compartment.

The 470G LC Excavator is manufactured in Kernersville, N.C., and its optional 2D/3D grade guidance sensor mounting brackets are welded to the boom, arm, dog bone, counterweight and mainframe at the factory, enabling immediate install of Topcon, Trimble, Leica or other grade-control systems.

The excavator includes smart features, such as an engine/hydraulic-management system with multiple productivity modes, enabling operators to balance engine performance and hydraulic flow for predictable operation. The production-class model also boasts an expansion tank in the cooling system that enhances air pursing, provides makeup fluid when needed and improves overall cooling efficiency, helping the engine operate at peak performance. A programmable thumb attachment mode is also available and enables operators to program oil flow for thumb attachments via the monitor.

Fleet managers looking to get the most out of their 470G LC Excavator can rely on their John Deere dealers to provide Ultimate Uptime featuring John Deere WorkSight. With Ultimate Uptime, owners receive predelivery and follow-up inspections; five years of JDLink™ telematics, machine health prognostics and remote diagnostics, and programming capability; and the ability to add dealer-provided uptime solutions to customize the package to individual needs.
