The Utility & Transportation Contractors Association of New Jersey (UTCA) held its 48th annual convention and trade show Sept. 19 through Sept. 22 at the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City, N.J.
On Friday, Sept. 20, equipment dealers and construction services companies met with Garden State contractors (and contractors from neighboring states) during the trade show in the Grand Exhibition Center. The Annual Awards Luncheon began at noon, where Jack Callahan of CohnReznick was presented with the Larry Gardner Memorial Award.
Each year, this award is given to a UTCA member who has demonstrated outstanding service to the association. Callahan has more than 25 years of experience, leading CohnReznick’s Construction Industry Practice and serving clients in most construction sectors, including heavy highway, general contractors, construction management, specialty contractors, building trades, and building supply and equipment companies. He has worked extensively with public agencies and major construction owners to develop successful fiscal and integrity monitoring programs that enable contractors to improve the profitability, safety, and integrity of construction programs. He was a lead partner for CohnReznick on the monitoring and investigative work performed at Ground Zero and at the new World Trade Center Transportation Hub.
The Awards Luncheon’s keynote speaker, sponsored by Penn-Jersey Machinery, was Merril Hoge, former Pittsburgh Steeler and Chicago Bear running back and current ESPN football analyst.
