Chief Engineer Malcolm T. Kerley on Jan. 17 approved the location and design plans for Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road) located in Warren County.
The project would begin at the intersection of Dismal Hollow Road (Route 647) to 1.34 mi. (2.2 km) north at the intersection of Khyber Pass Road and Rockwood Lane. The proposed improvements include widening the existing road to two 10-ft. (3 m) wide lanes and 3 to 5-ft. (.9 to 1.5 m) wide shoulders.
This section of Oregon Hollow Road is the Warren County Board of Supervisor’s top priority for unpaved roadway in the current Secondary Six Year Plan.
No families, businesses or non-profit organizations will be displaced as a result of this project.
The average daily traffic volume is currently 820 vehicles per day, and the average traffic volume is anticipated to increase to 1,242 vehicles per day by the year 2023.
The estimated cost of this project is $5.2 million, which includes $727,000 for preliminary engineering, $56,200 for the right of way and $4.5 million for construction.
Right of way acquisition will begin mid-2007 and advertising for construction is to be determined at a later date.
