All roads lead to the upgraded SPD-8.

Construction Equipment Guide

The Midland Model SPD-8 road widener is designed to place shoulder materials out 8 ft. (2.4 m) wide next to main line pavements.

The SPD-8 has been up-graded to accept the John Deere Tier IV version of the 4.5 L engine and controls allow conveyor belt speed and on/off and spreader blade functions from the operator’s control panel. The hopper and spreader blade are in full view in front of the operator with no fatiguing looking back “over–the-shoulder “ to watch the spreading operations.

The SPD-8 easily changes over from right hand spreading to left hand spreading by moving the operator’s controls from right to left, moving right hand tools to transport position and opening the left side blade to the desired spread width.
