Army Begins $77.5M Expansion at Warren Facility

WARREN, Mich. (AP) The U.S. Army has begun a $77.5 million expansion at its Tank-automotive and Armaments Command complex (TACOM) in Warren.

The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press reported a groundbreaking was held May 18 on the project. It includes an administration building, parking structure and a weapons maintenance and operations center.

The suburban Detroit expansion is designed to accommodate about 1,200 positions TACOM is relocating from other installations around the country. Construction is expected to be completed by 2011.
