Keystone Chapter, Associated Builders & Contractors Inc. (ABC) — recognized local member contractor firms for work performed on area construction projects during the annual ABC Excellence in Construction Awards Gala. The gala was held July 18 at the Radisson Hotel & Convention Center in Camp Hill, Pa. Two contractors also received accolades for overall excellence in safety and one received a Green Building Award.

Wohlsen Construction Company (Lancaster) won the ABC Keystone “Project of the Year” award for receiving the highest average score from the judges, for the Wohlsen Construction Company Operations Center. Close to 300 contractors, project owners, design professionals and guests were in attendance to celebrate.

ABC Keystone President and CEO John R. “Jack” Zimmer stated, “These award-winning projects recognize the quality craftsmanship of the best trained and safest workforce in the industry and the innovative, entrepreneurial spirit of our contractors that is so prevalent in the merit shop construction industry. ABC Keystone congratulates our members on their well-deserved recognition for transcending unique challenges to surpass clients’ expectations on these projects.”

This year’s program featured 59 entries, judged using specific criteria regarding the quality of construction and workmanship by a panel of construction design professionals.

The Excellence Award, the top honor, was given to the top winner of each category that scored a minimum of 80 points.

The Merit Award, second place, was given to all other projects within each category that scored 80 or more points.

All entries were awarded a Certificate of Commendation for submitting.

The winners at the Keystone Chapter are now eligible to enter at the National level, and compete against the best in the industry from all 74 ABC chapters, nationwide.
