Alta Equipment Company is sending three service technicians to the global finals of the Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) Masters Competition, designed to honor the top technicians at Volvo CE dealers around the world. Two Alta teams tied for second place in the regional finals, beating out other teams from throughout North America.
“Our company is built on customer service and to have Alta Equipment Company represented at the global finals of Volvo's Equipment Masters Competition is a testament to the technical aptitude and service our customers receive at all our service locations,” said Alta CE President Rob Chiles. “I'm extremely proud of the team we've assembled at Alta. Their knowledge and dedication are obvious and I'm excited to see them bring home a victory.”
While two Alta teams made it to the regional finals, only three individuals will be sent to represent the company at the global finals in Eskilstuna, Sweden: Jeff Puehler (Byron Center branch); Nate Pierce (Metro West branch); and Jeff Yaek (Detroit branch).
“Parts and service are at the heart of all successful businesses within our industry,” said Kyle Huss, vice president of product support, Alta Equipment Company. “We invest in the best and take tremendous pride in training our technicians and providing the very best parts and service tools the industry has to offer. Reaching the global finals is proof of all the hard work that Jeff, Nate and Jeff [Yaek] put into the competition.”
Mike Ruiz, technical support manager, coached the team through the various stages of the competition, and said, “I can't tell you what an honor it is to make it to the Global Final. These guys work hard every day — and now the entire Volvo global community will get to see the Alta difference.”
The Volvo CE Masters competition is open to Volvo CE dealer technicians around the world with a focus on know-how and practical knowledge. Teams are judged on technical and parts systems knowledge, proper handling of tools and demonstration of Volvo's brand values. More than 3,500 parts and service technicians started in the competition.
The finals will include technicians from dealerships representing the Asia Pacific, the Americas, China, Europe and the Middle East.

About the Volvo Masters Competition
The Volvo Masters started in 1990 as part of the 30th anniversary of Volvo CE Service Training. From 1990 to 1996, it was structured as individual competitions among service technicians. In 1998, service technicians began competing in teams. Since 2000, the teams consist of both parts and service technicians in regional and global finals.
The latest competition involved nearly 3,500 parts and service technicians from all over the world. It is an event where people from different nationalities, cultures and languages meet with one thing in common: exceptional skills.
