ASSE Announces Remaining Continuing Education Opportunities for 2010

In an effort to provide safety, health and environmental professionals (SH&E) with the opportunity to earn professional certifications and continued education in the SH&E field, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will offer math reviews for certification exams, several examination preparation workshops and a selection of continuing education seminars this Oct. 10 to 15 in Reno, Nev.; Oct. 31 to Nov. 5 in San Antonio, Texas; and Dec. 1 to 11 at ASSE headquarters in Des Plaines, Ill.

According to a study by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), SH&E professionals with certifications such as the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) can earn up to $30K more per year than persons without certifications.

The October certification preparation workshops will be located at the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino in Reno, Nev., and will include a math review for certification exams on Oct. 10, the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Certification Preparation Workshop Oct. 11 to 13, and the CSP Certification Preparation Workshop Oct. 14 to 16.

Continuing education seminars for the Certificate in Safety Management include a Corporate Safety Management course October 11 to 13, Safety Management I Oct. 11 to 13, Safety Management II Oct. 14 to 15.

The two sessions offered for the Executive Program in Safety Management will be Managing the Business Aspects of Safety Oct. 11 to 13 and Delivering a High-Performance Safety Management System Oct. 14 to 15.

The Oct. 31 and November workshops will take place at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas, with a math review for certification exams on Oct. 31 and the ASP and CSP Certification Preparation Workshops both taking place on Nov. 1 to 3. The continuing education opportunity for November will be the Rethink Safety Symposium, which will take place Nov. 4 to 5.

December workshops will take place at ASSE headquarters in Des Plaines, Ill., and will include a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Exam Preparation Workshop Dec. 1 to 3, a math review for certification exams on Dec. 5, an ASP Certification Preparation Workshop Dec. 6 to 8 and the final CSP Certification Preparation Workshop Dec. 9 to 11.
