Construction Equipment Guide

Global business trends that affect the profitability of all companies, large to small, will be examined at the 2006 annual conference of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), to be held Nov. 5 to 7, 2006, at the Boca Raton Resort and Club, Boca Raton, FL.

The AEM annual conference is a leading education and networking gathering for senior executives in the off-road equipment manufacturing industry. With the theme of “Go the Distance,” the event will offer a variety of perspectives to help attendees refine and improve their global business strategies.

Keynote speaker is Jason Jennings, who chronicles the winning traits of the world’s most successful companies in books such as “Think BIG — Act Small.” He will reveal highlights of his latest research on the values of top-performing firms.

A global business perspective will feature insights into doing business with China, delivered by Nicholas Lardy, a China-Asia business expert who is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for International Economics in Washington, D.C. and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

A distribution panel on cultivating channel relationships around the world will include dealers from Brazil, China, Russia and Spain and be moderated by Daniel Kaplan, rental expert.

Also on the AEM annual conference agenda:

• A sustainability perspective will examine incorporating environmental issues into a company’s business strategy.

• Doris Kearns Goodwin, author of “Team of Rivals,” will provide an historical perspective on developing a management team with diverse viewpoints.

• Dan Pink, author of “A Whole New Mind,” will offer an innovation perspective on the workplace value of hiring “right brain” intrinsically-motivated people.

• An “industries” outlook for off-road equipment manufacturing will include a panel discussion among equipment customers from the various industry sectors.

• An immersive learning experience, “The Music Paradigm,” will visibly demonstrate the need for leaders to communicate clearly.

Stuart Varney, television business journalist, returns to the AEM annual conference to moderate interactive “feedback” exchanges between audience members and the audience and presenters.

The association also will conduct its annual business meeting during the conference, with election of directors and a report on AEM’s strategic vision for the association’s future.
