Atlas Copco Construction Tools LLC offers the HC 409 and HC 920 hydraulic compactor attachments. Both compactors are part of a new line of hydraulic compactor attachments being offered by Atlas Copco that feature FAG bearings, a Permco motor and Lord shock mounts for exceptional performance and durability. These features make the compactors ideal for a variety of soil compaction projects along with driving and extracting sheeting and posts.
Accepting a maximum hydraulic flow of 20 gal. (75.7 L) per minute at 2,200 psi (151.8 bar) of pressure and weighing 900 lbs. (408 kg), the HC 409 delivers an 8,000-lb. (3,600 kg) impulse force and produces 2,100 cycles per minute.
Weighing 1,600 lbs. (725.7 kg), the HC 920 boasts an impulse force of 16,000 lbs. (7,257 kg) and delivers 2,200 cycles per minute with a maximum hydraulic flow of 30 gal. (113.6 L) per minute at 2,200 psi (151.8 bar) of pressure.
With a 24- by 36-in. (60.96 by 91.44 cm) plate, the HC 409 is compatible with carriers in the 4.4 to 9.9 ton (4 to 9 t) weight class, while the HC 920 is for use with carriers in the 9.9 to 22 ton (9 to 20 t) weight class and features a 28- by 40-in. (71 to 101.6 cm) plate.
The plates are formed from a single piece of extra thick stock, eliminating the need for welding and giving the plate optimum strength for increased durability and compaction performance.
Both compactors are also configured with a protected hose set that connects the valve block to the carrier supply and return lines. The hoses are centrally routed to prevent contact with working surfaces and protected by an outer layer that resists abrasion. Additionally, the hoses are positioned to mimic the configuration used by Atlas Copco breakers, allowing a compactor and breaker to be used on the same carrier without having to cross hoses when changing attachments.
To reduce problems associated with excessive hydraulic input, the plates come with a control valve designed to regulate the input flow and the amount of pressure traveling to the hydraulic motor. The hydraulic motors also come with an integral circuit, which allows the dynamic assembly to coast to a stop on circuits not set-up with an open return. Additionally, both of these features also make the compactors compatible with a large number of carriers without modification.
For compactor mounting, the compactors feature a flat top design that accepts the same bolt-on brackets as Atlas Copco hydraulic breakers used on similar sized carriers. Furthermore, the brackets are designed to OEM bucket specifications making the compactors compatible with pin grabbing quick attach devices. The compactors can also be ordered as a traditional pin on unit without an additional bracket.
