Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers announced the results of a two-day auction conducted at its facility in Fort Worth, TX, with gross auction sales exceeding $32 million.

Of this, a record-breaking $3.4 million worth of trucks and equipment sold in real time over the Internet, via the rbauctionBid-Live service. There were 2,296 people registered to bid on 3,040 trucks and equipment items Sept. 12 and 13. Of these, 307 (13 percent) registered as Internet bidders.

Successful Internet buyers came from as far away as South Africa and New Zealand, and were among the record number of Internet bidders from 44 states and eight other countries.

“We experienced strong bidding on both days of the auction, whether it was live at the auction site or from our online bidders,” stated David Hobbs, regional manager for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. “Prices for the equipment were good straight across the board.”

A total of 963 buyers purchased items in the unreserved public auction, and more than 40 percent of the units sold to buyers from outside the state of Texas.
