Jack Murphy, president of the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association of New Jersey (UTCA), recently announced that Bob Briant Jr. has been named to succeed Bob Briant as CEO of the association. This appointment was effective Jan. 1, 2006.
UTCA includes approximately 1,100 member firms active in road, bridge, utility and hazardous waste remediation construction.
Briant Jr. has been with the association for 23 years. For the past four years, he served as the organization’s executive director, while directing the association’s legislative and government relation’s activities.
For the past few years, he also has been responsible for the association’s labor relations and union contract negotiations. Briant was recently appointed by Gov. Codey as a public member of the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund Authority.
Beginning with the new year, the senior Briant will remain active with UTCA in providing support to association staff. He also will continue to direct the publication of the association magazine, Utility and Transportation Contractor, and chair the Water and Sewer Construction Coalition, a national group, and continue service as chairman of the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust financing agency for the state’s sewer and water construction program.
