Brookfield Man Dies at Zoo Interchange Construction Site

The accident involved machinery, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A man has died after a construction accident at the site of the Zoo Interchange project in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened before 8 a.m. on Saturday near Interstate 94 and 91st Street.

Few other details were released, but authorities identified the victim as 33-year-old Ryan Calkins of Brookfield. They say the accident involved machinery, and Calkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the sheriff’s office criminal investigation unit is looking into the accident, along with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
