The Construction Association of Michigan (CAM) held its 28th Annual Michigan Construction & Design Tradeshow and its 126th Annual CAM Meeting Feb. 8 at the MotorCity Casino & Hotel.

Founded in 1885 as the Builders Exchange of Detroit and Michigan, CAM is among North America’s oldest and largest construction associations. The organization, based in Bloomfield Hills, is a not-for-profit association serving general contractors; specialty/sub-contractors; equipment and material suppliers as well as service providers including design firms and legal and financial institutions.

During the CAM 126th Annual Meeting, several awards were presented, including the Green Building awards, and Construction Project of the Year award.

As well as the annual meeting, the one-day event offered both education and networking opportunities for Michigan’s construction company owners, contractors, suppliers, architects and engineers. Along with a host of industry product, equipment and services providers on hand to provide information about their products and services, CAMTEC, the association’s training and education division, held four classes during the tradeshow.

Classes included a MIOSHA Update, a special business enterprise panel discussion, a class entitled “Business Cents,” and an overview on trench and excavating safety conducted by Efficiency Productions’ Mike Ross.

According to Tradeshow Manager Ron Riegel, exhibitor space reservations were up roughly 20 percent over last year’s show.
